Working Together to Advance the Industry

Freddie Mac is in a unique position to work across the multifamily ecosystem, bringing together lenders, sponsors and investors. We can leverage feedback from players with on-the-ground experience to identify best practices, new ideas and innovations with the potential to spread across the industry.
That’s where our Impact Sponsors come in. As best-in-class operators, they are advancing new ways to build and support stable communities across the country. By investing in their properties, communities and tenants, they are building buy-in for the long term, advancing tenant stickiness and reducing risk for everyone involved.
By spotlighting our Impact Sponsors, Freddie Mac can play a role in the expansion of market-led, proven solutions that ultimately help us deliver liquidity, stability and affordability while maintaining safety and soundness.
Last year, our Impact Sponsors partnered with us to deliver $3.3 billion in affordable and workforce rental housing nationwide. Just halfway through 2025, together, we have already supported the creation of over 2,800 new units, with close to 8,000 more in the pipeline.

Building Momentum Together
Last week, the 2025 Impact Sponsors joined our leadership team in Chicago to share their experience with us and with each other.
We shared a few updates from Freddie Mac, including our focus on cross-training staff to expand the reach of our talent, fine-tuning products like our lease-up execution, and ways we have adjusted our strategies to address the changing market.
The 2025 Impact Sponsors discussed how they are leaning into creative solutions to address the complicated acquisition market and programs that are working to reduce turnover, retain high-quality tenants, and improve credit risks, ultimately boosting the overall economic success of their business. Some examples of programs they are using to increase tenant stickiness include internship programs, cooking and nutrition classes, and tutoring programs — just to name a few.
During our roundtable, we also explored the ways AI can, and already has been, integrated across our industry to do more, better and faster. It’s exciting to see this potential for meaningful growth and change in the near term. Look for more from our 2025 Impact Sponsors throughout the year.
